Top Movies For The Weekend! Your Thanksgiving free movie list is merely two movies long, but what movies! Unlike Halloween (that I offered that you simply list of 100 free scary movies here), Thanksgiving needs a different twist. Neither is likely to be specific to Thanksgiving, but they relate to some themes with the holiday. Frankly, I can enjoy these free movies for Thanksgiving or for any day in the year.

Big oil company propaganda which has a heart! Just the free movie we require for Thanksgiving! This 78-minute semi-documentary from 1948 is one of the most lyrical American films ever produced. In 1994, The Louisiana Story was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress to "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is the story of a Cajun boy with his fantastic family, living around the bayous you might say of life that people can barely imagine.
The boy's family rents land on the oil company, which comes in, drills, and leaves everything much like it was, clean and unspoiled with the exception that the family includes a little more money. (Yes, it turned out funded from the Standard Oil Company.)
The boy spends the majority of his time on his narrow boat (pirogue), floating across the bayous, prime snake and alligator habitat, with his pet raccoon. He never wears your life preserver or shoes... doesn't actually have a cell phone to get in touch with case he gets struggling. There is not much story, simply a celebration (such stunning black and white photography that you might well wonder exactly what the big deal is all about color) of an way of life which is no longer around.
All with the actors were amateurs, and then for most, this became their only film. As of April 2007, J.C. Boudreaux, who literally boy, was moving into a FEMA trailer together with his wife of fifty-five years, after Hurricane Rita destroyed their house. (source). He had an opportunity at fame inside the movies, but that they stayed where he was from and apparently grew up with an appreciation of family (a relationship of over half a century) reflects why I consider The Louisiana Story a suitable free movie for just one of our most family-friendly holidays.

A grayscale silent film that ends using a woman being burned alive? Oh, yes, exactly what every family needs at Thanksgiving. But, I have 3 good reasons for including The Passion of Joan of Arc in this pair of free movies for Thanksgiving.
First, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was ever produced. Second, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was preserved. The director Carl Theodor Dreyer (more) died convinced that the last copy had been destroyed. In a little bit of weirdness that sounds similar to a movie than the truth, a practically complete print is discovered in 1981 in the janitor's closet of your Norwegian mental institution.
Finally, I am grateful that people can watch this magnificent film, on many lists with the greatest films of all time, totally free online at Gloria.tv, a Roman Catholic video site.
Maria Falconetti (more), who plays Joan, suffered a psychological breakdown during the making with this film, and she never made another film.
