10 Top Movie Reviews! Your Thanksgiving free movie list is just two movies long, but what movies! Unlike Halloween (that I offered that you simply list of 100 free scary movies here), Thanksgiving uses a different twist. Neither could well be specific to Thanksgiving, however they relate to some themes in the holiday. Frankly, I can enjoy these free movies for Thanksgiving or any day from the year.

Big oil company propaganda using a heart! Just the free movie we want for Thanksgiving! This 78-minute semi-documentary from 1948 is one of the most lyrical American films available. In 1994, The Louisiana Story was selected for preservation within the United States National Film Registry through the Library of Congress being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is the story of your Cajun boy with his fantastic family, living around the bayous in a way of life that we can barely imagine.
The boy's family rents land towards the oil company, which comes in, drills, and instead gives off everything exactly like it was, clean and unspoiled apart from the family features a little more money. (Yes, it absolutely was funded from the Standard Oil Company.)
The boy spends almost all of his time on his narrow boat (pirogue), floating along the bayous, prime snake and alligator habitat, along with his pet raccoon. He never wears your life preserver or shoes... doesn't actually have a cell phone to call in case he gets having problems. There is not much story, merely a celebration (such stunning white and black photography that you can well wonder exactly what the big deal is about color) of the way of life that's no longer along with us.
All with the actors were amateurs, and then for most, this is their only film. As of April 2007, J.C. Boudreaux, who unquestionably boy, was residing in a FEMA trailer along with his wife of fifty-five years, after Hurricane Rita destroyed their house. (source). He had a possibility at fame in the movies, but that they stayed where he was from and apparently knew growing up an appreciation of family (a marriage of over 50 years) reflects why I consider The Louisiana Story a proper free movie first of our most family-friendly holidays.

A grayscale silent film that ends having a woman being burned alive? Oh, yes, precisely what every family needs at Thanksgiving. But, I have three good reasons for including The Passion of Joan of Arc in this pair of free movies for Thanksgiving.
First, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was ever produced. Second, I am thankful that The Passion of Joan of Arc was preserved. The director Carl Theodor Dreyer (more) died believing that the last copy had been destroyed. In a bit of weirdness that sounds much more a movie as opposed to truth, an almost complete print was discovered in 1981 inside a janitor's closet of a Norwegian mental institution.
Finally, I am grateful that individuals can watch this magnificent film, on many lists from the greatest films ever, at no cost online at Gloria.tv, a Roman Catholic video site.
Maria Falconetti (more), who plays Joan, suffered a difficult breakdown through the making with this film, and he or she never made another film. Pauline Kael (more), a notoriously demanding film critic, declared Falconetti's performance "may be the finest performance ever recorded on film."
